Introduction
Targeted Infusion Project in Interdisciplinary Transportation Studies (TIP-ITS) is a interdisciplinary undergraduate certificate program developed by the College of Sciences and Technology at Savannah State University and funded by National Science foundation. This program educates students, including those from populations traditionally underrepresented in STEM disciplines, in technical, logistical, policy, research, and commerce-related issues of the transportation industry. Both STEM and non-STEM majors will be able to register for the proposed certificate program.

Goals
Long term goal of SSU is to build upon the success of this proposed certificate program to eventually develop an interdisciplinary undergraduate Bachelors Degree program in Interdisciplinary Transportation Studies. An additional primary goal is to prepare students to think beyond current models and existing transportation infrastructure and to develop new paradigms and to conduct meaningful research to help meet the changing transportation needs in the 21st century. To achieve the above goals, the following set of goals need to be achieved:
Goal 1: Strengthen existing curriculum content associated with transportation concepts to better prepare students for transportation careers.
Goal 2: Increase awareness, student enrollment, and retention, with a specific focus on underrepresented minority students, in Transportation Studies and associated fields such as Logistics and Supply Chain, Civil Engineering, and Homeland Security
Goal 3: Develop and implement student and faculty enhancement programs, specifically related to transportation studies.
